Moose

Well I don't post anything for a year and then a ton of posts in one day!

The other day while we were out walking Zeus and Mojo were running ahead and I noticed that they seemed to be sniffing the air. I called them and thankfully Zeus turned right away and started running towards me. Just then two moose jumped the fence and landed on the trail and started running towards the back of the property. I yelled at Mojo again and she too came to me. They both stared at the moose and had this " darn we could have been chasing them" look on their faces!
I was so busy grabbing them and putting them on their leashes that I couldn't tell if it was two cows or a cow with last years calf. They were a good size though. I am so thankful that the dogs weren't able to chase them as cows have been known to stomp dogs while protecting their young.

We are still getting a ton of snow and hopefully hubby will be able to plow out our trail again. He has been in a first aid course all day so am hoping he will feel like getting some air when he gets home. If not it is good exercise plowing through all the fresh snow.

That is enough posting for one day. Promise to check in more often... This time I will keep my promise.
Do you think?

Changes

Well can't believe how long it has been since signing into this blog. I realized that there was a post stuck in the draft box so just posted it. Now we have some more news from the Ranch.

Let us try and bring you up to date then I will start posting once a week. Probably will not write to much after this but will just include picture. Nice to be able to look back on these posts so will use it as a bit of a diary.

December was a sad and happy month for us.

On  December 1, 2011 we had to have Shiloh put to sleep. She had been not eating much and finally we took her in and apparently her intestines were being pushed aside from a tumor or mass. We made the decision to let her go as she was in her 16th year and couldn't put her through an operation that may or may not have helped her.
While we were at the vets office we were coaxed to look at a lab/cross puppy that was in dire need of a home. We went and looked at him and of course fell in love with the baby brown eyes.

Later the same day we were blessed with our third grandson and hubby was honored that his name was used for the middle name. Anderson Nicholas and he was 8lbs 4 oz and 20.3 inches long so a good healthy little boy.

Two days later we made the decision to bring the new puppy home and try him out as Mojo had been so horribly lost without Shiloh. We called him Zeus and of course he is still here.

On Jan 7, 2012 we had Mystery the pony put to sleep. She as you know had been battling laminitis since we rescued her. It seemed she would have a bout of it then recover only to end up with it again. Laminitis is very painful and this last time she was affected with it she never recovered. So her life was consisting of living in the barn, getting up to eat and drink then laying back down. Her breathing was very rapid and after consulting with a vet we decided to do the right thing and send her to the Rainbow Bridge.  She taught me so much about handling horses and I will always miss her special little nicker that she would give.

Well I will end this post and then enter some pictures of the new and the old.

Stuck in the draft mode

Well looking back it seems I only am able to manage a yearly post. Last post I promised a picture of Rusty. Yes we of course decided to keep him... as if we wouldn't!

Rusty and Hubby

Rusty and hubby have bonded so well and last year we got to ride almost every day. This year another story.

We had a terribly long, cold and snowy winter. We had so much snow that we were yard bound, couldn't go for my daily walks as we couldn't even make it to the gate. In March I had my arena plowed out in hopes of being able to get out to ride before the snow melted.
